Awesome Full Day

On Saturday I took Charlie Kuhn, Little Charlie Kuhn, Duke Kuhn, Bryne and Darrell from Lancaster, S.C. and Brian Oneil from Ellerbe, N.C. on a full day opportunistic trip. By this I mean we are not targeting any one fish, but are after whatever will bite. We started fishing in the 90 foot range and quickly caught several kings. I slowly worked my way offshore checking several different areas. All areas had willing fish and we caught fish pretty much all day. On one spot a huge school of Jacks decided they liked being beneath the Twister and this allowed the guys to catch all the jacks that they could stand. I would estimate that we caught over 25 jacks ranging from 10-40 pounds. We kept our limit and released the rest to grow up and become even stronger fighters. During one of the jack takeovers a lonely 30 pound cobia swam into the spread and we were able to hook him up on one of the live pogys that we had in the livewell. After a 10 minute tug of war, Darrell was able to get the cobia within my gaff range. Soon after that everyone was standing on the gunnel, allowing the cobia to have the floor to himself. If you have never seen a green cobia on the deck of a boat all I can compare it to is a bowling ball going down the lane, its going to knock over anything in its way. We ended the day with a great catch bringing home 6 Amberjacks, 5 nice Scamp Grouper, 2 King Mackeral, 1 nice cobia, and a handfull of Grunts and Bass to throw into the mix. The fishing is on fire so if you would like to get into some of this action feel free to give me a call.
