August 19th, 2009 by Patrick BryantI’m sorry I haven’t posted a report in a long time, but my main computer’s hard drive crashed and I haven’t been able to log on with my other computer. I’ve got those problems fixed and have a lot to report. Here’s a few pics to get started.

3/4 day trip
July 24th, 2009 by Patrick Bryant

I had a great 3/4 day trip for Aj’s and Kings. We left Holden Beach on the Twister heading for the Horseshoe area. There had been a good bite of fish there all week. After we put the lines out it wasn’t long before we were greated with a nice Barracuda to break the ice. We trolled a little longer before catching our first King Mackeral, a nice 15 pounder. Right after catching the king, we were swormed with a huge school of Amberjacks. There were probably between 100-150 fish under the boat for the rest of the trip. We never even had to move the boat. After quickly catching our limit of fish we continued to catch and release the AJ’s for the rest of the trip. These fish put up on heck of a fight, especially on light tackle. The fish are still biting, I’ve got a 1/2 day King Mackeral trip in the morning that I’ve postponed two straight days, due to the weather. The outlook for the rest of the week looks good, 10-15 out of the South West. If your interested in going on a 1/2 day or even a full day Grouper trip shoot me a email or call and lets go fishing!!!

Calm Seas!!
July 21st, 2009 by Patrick Bryant

I had a 1/2 day yesterday. We fished off of Oak Island and Holden Beach in 20-30 feet of water targeting Spanish Mackeral and Sharks. The Spanish were biting pretty good off of the Big Hill, and the Sharks were biting behind a Shrimp Boat off of Holden Beach.
Today I had a full day and ventured to the Horseshoe area. We caught several King Mackeral and Mahi Mahi. Most of the Mahi Mahi came in schools. We would troll a while and then pick up two or three Mahi at a time. One of the Mahi’s was around 18 pounds.

1/2 Day
July 20th, 2009 by Patrick Bryant

Spent this morning on the beach in search of Spanish and Sharks. We didn’t wear the fish out, but caught a few Spanish and one nice Shark. I’ll be on a full day trip tomorrow so we should be on some good fish.
My Mom, Dad, Brother, and his girlfriend Lauren are touring YellowStone this week. I’m jeolous that I couldn’t make the trip, but this is a bad time of year for me to go on vacation. Here are a few pics from their trip.

1/2 Day Spanish
July 17th, 2009 by Patrick Bryant

My past two days have been 1/2 day Spanish Mackeral Trips. The Spanish have been biting pretty well off of Ocean Crest Pier, on Oak Island, North Carolina. I’ve got a small King Mackeral Tournament tomorrow so stay tuned, hopefully we can find a smoker for the scales.

1/2 day King Mackeral
July 13th, 2009 by Patrick Bryant
On Sunday the winds were blowing hard out of the South West, but my crew was tough and we decided to try our luck anyway. Over the past few days there has been a good bite of fish at the Shark Hole, a spot about 16 miles off of Holden Beach, so that is were we would give it our best shot. Upon arrival there were several other boats already fishing, most were fishing the Carolina Beach King Mackeral Tournament. It didn’t take long before we had our first strike, a shark on the downrigger. The kings never really got going for us. We had three good strikes, one tail whipped the line, one missed the bait, and the other fish we caught, a nice 12 pound King Mackeral. Not the day we expected, but we gave it our best shot. I think the hard SouthWest winds had the fish shut down. We usually have no problems catching fish, but i’m going to report the good with the bad.
Full Day Grouper
July 13th, 2009 by Patrick Bryant

On Saturday I took a great group from Lillington, N.C. They were interested in catching grouper so we jumped in the Twister and headed offshore 30 miles to an area that has been producing over the past few trips. Once we arrived on the first number it wasn’t long before we knew the grouper were still there. Over the next few hours we nailed 12 nice grouper. Three of the grouper were nice Gags ranging from 12-18 pounds. The other 9 were Scamp ranging from 8-13 pounds. Not only were the Grouper biting but the Amberjacks were also, catching our limit of 6. These six fish were all nice size ranging from 30-45 pounds. If your interested in going on a grouper only trip or would like to stay close to the beach and catch big Sharks and Spanish Mackeral, Twister Charters located at Holden Beach, North Carolina can accommodate all your fishing needs. Feel free to call or email.

1/2 day Shark Trips
July 13th, 2009 by Patrick Bryant

Last week I ran several 1/2 day Shark fishing trips. The shrimp boats were off of Oak Island and the Shark’s weren’t far behind. Most of the Sharks were in the medium size range, ranging from 50-80 pounds. These fish are a blast to catch on light tackle.
3/4 Day

Today was a great day for fishing! We had good weather and great company! The crew catching fish today were Boomer, Matthew, and Frank all from the Holden Beach area. This was Matthew’s first trip out of Holden Beach and I wanted to show him how great the fishing could be. I was also lucky enough to have my girlfriend Susanna Ward with me as first mate. We started out on top of a school of Amberjacks at the Horseshoe that were so big we couldn’t keep them on the line. I quickly changed the leaders and we caught 4 keeper Amberjacks, not to mention the dozen we released. After the crew caught enough Jacks we moved on to trolling for King Mackeral. The bite was good and we ended the day with 5 good sized Kings! Come on down to Holden Beach, North Carolina and fish with Twister Charters while the fishing is still hot!!
